Peter McCann
Senior Partner & Mentor
Peter is a very creative business leader and executive mentor with a career spanning Executive Coaching, Financial Services, Information and Data Warehousing Technologies. He has held positions as Chairman and non-exec for both his own and other growing businesses.
Peter is a strong advocate of corporate and social responsibility, and he aligns his passion for people to help all groups increase and improve their employability. He has a special passion for the Learning Disabled community.
His policy is to ensure that his business demonstrates integrity at all levels and hence he selects only senior experienced associates to complement his skills.
He has grown CertaintyOne as a specialist business ranging from coaching senior executives through redundancy , to young people embarking on careers, and an emerging professional operation in Headhunting and Executive Search and Assessments. The latter has been developed due to the feedback about disatisfaction senior executives have relayed about poor quality recruitment agencies. A proportion of income streams from placement fees go to nomintaed learning disabled charities.
Peter is LIFO accredited and his team of associates use a range of assessment tools including LIFO, Thomas International, Disc and Myers Briigs. He is also an accredited Growth Accelerator coach under the BIS scheme. Peter holds a BSc Honours Degree in Physics from Strathclyde University in Glasgow.
He has led recent key Executive Coaching assignments at Sanyo and for Oaklands College. He managed major Marketing Information assignments at Market Data Systems ( WPP), Prudential M&G, Bounty, and for a wide range of Insurers and IFAs. He held key job roles in manufacturing at Colgate Palmolive and Metal Box and database marketing and sales roles Burroughs ( Unisys), and Digital Equipment.
Simon North

A highly driven and experienced FCCA Finance Director with a unique blend of practical financial, commercial and legal experience. Deep experience of the Headhunting / Recruitment Sector and adviser to Hamilton Bradshaw companies.
Has first-class analytical, design and problem solving skills gained in large organisations and SME’s. Formerly Group Finance Director of the VMA Group, Simon has held previous senior positions at Grundig and Marconi. At New Direction Finance he specialised in planning and management of outsourced administration services.
Richard Goat
Business Growth Specialist
Richard has a wealth of experience in leading and coaching at Board level. He runs company wide strategic reviews. He has developed a specialism in running Constraint Workshops to help leaders develop mutli-disciplinary teams and improve growth...combining business and personal development. These programmes link corporate objectives to business plans and current executive skills, and help identify resolutions of major constraints to growth and success. Richard has significant strength in developing start ups.
Richard has a Masters degree from Cambridge. His experience includes assignments at IBM, Continuum (now CSC) Vamp Medical Systems, Portrait Software as well as many leading Banks and Insurers and Barnardo's Children's Charity.
Laura Tovey
Senior Executive Coach
Laura is a senior coach who helps individuals and leadership teams clarify vision, think and act strategically and improve interpersonal and team effectiveness. She has held divisional global and European positions at Goldman Sachs and Barclays. Laura is a master practitioner in NLP, is trained in a variety of psychometric tools, is LIFO accredited, and has had work published in the Journal of Strategic Change and the Journal of European Industrial Training.
Laura has an MBA, and a BA in Marketing from Lancaster. She speaks fluent German. She is a member of the CIPD.
She has led assignments at McKInseys, Barclays, Euroclear, ITV, Lazard, RBS, PInsent Masons and Oxfam.
Karen Hatt
Partner and Senior Coach
Karen is an experienced International coach with a focus on Performance Management and Personal Development. She has significant experience of handling Outplacement and Redundancy Coaching for Executives and young people including graduates. She developed her skills with Merrill Lynch, International Playtex and the Thomson Corporation.
Karen holds a BA in English from Smith College Massachusetts, USA and an MSc in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from The London School of Economics and Political Science. Achieved the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development ( CIPD). Advanced Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring - merit grade - qualified by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council ( EMCC) . Karen is trained in a variety of pyschometric tools including LIFO.
Assignments include Thomson Financial Services, American Banker/The Bond Buyer, General Electric Credit and Mobil Oil.
Barbara McAuley
Senior Trainer
Barbara is an experienced line manager and consultant in pan-European customer support, logistics and distribution services. She developed her operations skills with market leaders such as $8bn US Newell Rubbermaid, UK based Mothercare, and a German Industrial Tools company. She has project led complex change management and IT efficiency programmes in 16 countries where she reduced costs in sales through centralisation, and improved accounts receivable and logistics operations.
Training was also central to these roles and Barbara, as an IFL member, is also a registered part-time lecturer in several colleges in Hampshire and Dorset, having initially studied IT and Economics at Heriot Watt, Edinburgh.
Miles Austin

Miles is a leading executive search and recruitment professional with 15 years experience in this field. He is also a qualified coach and NLP practitioner, with an MSc in Business Psychology. Miles works astutely and with diligence to ensure that any job vacancies, whether full time, part-time, interim or non-executive are matched with suitable candidates. As part of the CertaintyOne Circle, he then assists in delivering ongoing training and coaching . In this way we ensure that all of our clients – employers and candidates – continue to develop themselves to their full potential.

Shirley Hawkins
Outplacement & HR Leader
Shirley brings many years' experience to the team. She offers support to Companies who have to put redundancy programmes in place, helping manage the process and ensuring that staff are treated fairly. Shirley recognises that in a tough economy, costs may have to be cut fast but it is also important to motivate remaining staff who have to carry heavier workloads. In this respect her coaching and team leadership skills are vitally important.
Shirley has been a key figure in developing CertaintyOne’s EFP core programme which covers ten key elements:

3. Sharing experiences and co-coaching on career successes.
4. LIFO behavioural style profiling with dynamic 360 feedback.

9. Interview coaching and handling difficult questions.
10. Personal action plans and accountability.
The programme was continually amended to include occasional contributions from other specialists when relevant, on topics such as volunteering, operating as independent consultants, marketing, franchising, starting a business, using social media, health and wellbeing, and work/life balance.
