Peter McCann
Senior Partner
Peter is a creative business leader and coach. He coaches junior, middle and senior managers through Outplacement and Redundancy. His team supports them in finding new work, and helps those setting up their own ventures by providing incubation advice. Each Redundancy Forum Programme ( RFP) lasts for six weeks at half a day per week to allow for developmental improvements and collaborative working to stimulate positive outcomes. This exclusive focussed programme is NOT a series of disconnected one to one sessions so often offered by traditional Outplacement firms, but rather an intensive and highly successful team coaching exercise.CertaintyOne designed and delivered a training programme which has now resulted in 64% of participants finding employment. Over the last two years, some 290 executives from different industry sectors participated in 17 team coaching courses, with each team engaging once a week over six weeks.
The Redundancy Forum Programme (EFP) has been exclusively designed by CertaintyOne’s specialist outplacement, redundancy, career transition and health and wellbeing coaches. RFP’s target audience is executive directors and senior and middle managers who have recently been made redundant and whose needs are not really catered for by their local Jobcentre Plus, or from traditional expensive one to one outplacement services. The aim of the programme is to help these individuals with professional careers, with management and budget holding responsibility and average incomes usually over £30,000, to find employment significantly faster than they would normally be able to. On average, it takes 6 – 12 months for an executive to secure permanent employment after redundancy; for some up to two years in the current climate. Many clients are aged over 40 and have no modern expertise in relation to CVs, online job hunting, ‘hidden market’ applications, interview skills, managing job loss/self-esteem, and for some re-launching or changing their careers. The programme provides value on many levels. Its objective is to enable people from professional careers, who were in long term employment but are now unemployed, to re-launch their careers successfully.
CertaintyOne’s core EFP programme covers ten key elements:
1. Assessing status and setting objectives.
2. Coping with stress, and financial planning.
3. Sharing experiences and co-coaching on career successes.
4. LIFO behavioural style profiling with dynamic 360 feedback.
5. Career re-assessment.
6. CV re-building.
7. Job Searching and handling of Recruitment Agencies.
8. How to use Social Networks to build personal brands.
9. Interview coaching and handling difficult questions.
10. Personal action plans and accountability.
Complementing his corporate career, Peter incubated, funded and managed his own SME, and with the support of partners completed, as Chairman, a successful trade sale. This gave him a deep appreciation of managing people, releasing equity and sharing management skills, and the harsh realities of cash flows. Peter holds a BSc in Physics from Strathclyde and is LIFO accredited. His assignments include recent projects across the UK for Outplacement and Redundancy coaching. Peter is a strong advocate of corporate and social responsibility and his policy is to ensure that the business demonstrates integrity at all levels, and that clients get good honest value for money, whether in the Public Sector or Private Sector domain. As a father of a special needs young adult, he has great respect for the vocational commitment of many employees in Social Services, Education and the Department of Health.
